The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC) hosted a compelling exhibition and seminar 18 - 30 September 2024 dedicated to the pioneering Egyptologist Selim Bey Hassan. The event, a fruitful collaboration between NMEC and Cultnat (the Center for Documentation of Cultural and Natural Heritage, Bibliotheca Alexandrina's outreach cultural sector), showcased a fascinating collection of Selim Hassan’s manuscripts and photographs, offering insights into his life and work. Alongside these personal archives, the exhibition displayed artifacts from the museum's collection, many of which were originally discovered by Selim Hassan during his groundbreaking excavations at Giza. A central feature was the impressive 3D reconstruction of the Saqqara Causeway, a significant discovery made by Hassan during his Saqqara expeditions. To further illuminate his legacy, a short film detailing Selim Hassan's remarkable career was also presented, making this event a rich tribute to a towering figure in Egyptology.
